Founded in Australia 1946, Ken Thomas started his own transport company Thomas Nationwide Transport with one truck. In the 1950’s he introduced overnight and rail services within Australia and in the 50 years of business, has expanded the services offering global air, rail and road networks in over 200 countries.
In 1958 Thomas Nationwide Transport was officially known as TNT for short.
With over 75,000 employees, 30,000 vehicles, 46 aircraft and 2,300 depots TNT transport approximately 4.7 Million items globally per week via all services generating €7,246 million in revenue.
In Australia, TNT offers a range of services including International Express for global deliveries, Sameday Time Critical Deliveries for urgent and time specific packages and Domestic Express for less urgent deliveries.
In 2012 UPS announced that it plans to purchase TNT Express for 5.16 billion euros ($6.8 billion).
